the dillinger escape plan pull no punches in their brand new video for the lead single off their forthcoming record, “farewell mona lisa”. the destruction and battering these guys put on their instruments is obvious when listening to their songs, but now they want you to visually witness it. that, and the veins popping out of greg puciatos neck. dude is a BEAST
about a week ago, i did a rant-and-raving introductory post on the morning benders jaw dropping song “excuses”. well guess what kiddos? the rest of the album is just as good, and you don’t have to take my word for it. the band are now offering a full album stream at their website, so be sure to check it out, so when your friends come to you like “dude, have you heard of this sweet new band?” you can scoff and say “chyeah, like two months ago, bro”.
a few months back, i got a hold of the wonder years sophomore full-length the upsides. it soon found way into itunes purgatory and it wasn’t till a few weeks back that i shuffled onto it and immediately fell in love.
though the upsides is anything but innovative or ground breaking, the philadelphia five-piece stick to what they do, and they do it very well; creating raucous, nostalgic pop punk. vocalist dan campbell brings a sunny charm, juxtaposed with a snarling bite throughout the upsides span, and the starting line comparisons are impossible to ignore, as his immediately recognizable whine sounds almost identical to TSL (and now Person L) frontman Kenny Vasoli.
When the temperature rises, and your in desperate need of something to blast from the open windows of your car, give the upsides a chance. you may be pleasantly surprised.

could a new kev dev full-length be on the horizon? it seems likely, with all the new material he’s been showcasing live recently. here’s a preview of another new song that mr. devine did with getaddicted. “you wouldn’t have to ask” is short and sweet vintage kevin devine.

sometimes it’s a breath of fresh air to see a band pass on all the high brow intellectually assaulting music videos that are becoming the recent norm, and just getting down. that’s exactly what person L did for the first music video from last year’s the positives. “goodness gracious” picks up right where vasoli’s live show left off, and if you’ve ever seen a person L show, you’ll know exactly what i mean.
color me surprised and impressed in regards to angels and airwaves third full-length, LOVE. overdramatics and over-the-top naivety aside, you can’t deny tom delonge’s skill for penning a catchy tune. look no further than to “hallucinations”, the albums apparent first single. it probably wouldn’t be my first pick for the lead single, but it ain’t bad as that american-flag emblazoned leather jacket toms rockin
i was beyond ecstatic to finally get my hands on a copy of four year strong’s much anticipated sophomore release enemy of the world.. we’ve been treated with some warm this weather this weekend, so i was able to turn it up and roll the windows down as me and the fiance did some errands. to say i’ve been completely blown away would be an understatement, in fact i was nearly blown out of my car when the second to last track “what the hell is a gigawatt” came on. coupling the bands obvious hardcore and pop-punk influences has never been done so masterfully by these guys before, and it’s obvious that this is gonna be a record that’s due some heavy heavy playtime. TURN IT UP!
i’ve yet to be in complete and utter awe from a la blogotheque session as the one i just witnessed featuring local natives. it’s times like these when i’m better off just shutting up and letting you experience it, because no amount of bloated adjectives can do this session justice. wow.

sorry, i’m late. once in a while, there comes along an album that is so ridiculously good that it ignites a wave of hype that is hard to ignore for any of you out there that eagerly check through your blog readers every day. such was my experience with the morning benders new album big echo. after reading through more hyped up posts on this band than i can remember, i finally gave em a go. big echo which was produced by grizzly bear multi-instrumentalist chris taylor, features some of the most enjoyable and original pop songs i’ve heard in a long time. check the albums leading track “excuses” for proof and get on the hype train before it leaves without you. mp3//excuses
