Yeasayer’s sophmore effort could very well put them into indie spotlight if all the cards fall in their favor this year. Their new album Odd Blood is a electronica heavy psychedelic pop that sounds almost identical to Animal Collective’s latest in some respects. Will old fans be able to accept the switch from their patented psych-folk roots? That will be the deciding factor in the true success of Odd Blood.
The album’s fourth track “I Remember” plays like a typical ranting from the newly dumb-in-love’s perspective. What is not typical is the descending electronics that back Chris Keatings high-pitched swoon. The 80′s pop circa Michael Jackson / Prince vibe is really heavy on this one, as it is throughout the whole of Odd Blood.
