I recently posted about The Republic of Wolves, a band that has been turning more than a few heads recently, since their own rough demos were leaked onto Youtube labeled as Brand New demos. Not surprisingly, the mishap was extremely beneficial for them. However, The Republic of Wolves isn’t the only thing brewing inside the heads of Christian Van Deurs and Mason Maggio, whom make up 50% of Wolves. The two actually have been recording together since 2004 in their acoustic project Tigers on Trains
While the two Long Island natives have been together for a while, they have just released their first full-length entitled Grandfather out on iTunes (physical release forthcoming). Grandfather is a melding pot of the duo’s influences. Musically, a lot of the album takes strong cues from Good Old War’s latest, while lyrically the band use strong imagery similar to Andy Hull’s Right Away, Great Captain!. Needless to say, the comparisons that Grandfather arises hint at something special. An album that could very well be on it’s way to planting itself into many more listener’s ears.
