Damion Suomi (pronounced Sue-Me) is a singer-songwriter out of Florida. I’ve been digging his debut self titled album since purchasing it off his labels website for 5 bucks! When listening to Damion Suomi I can’t help but feel like I’m far away in some dirty Irish pub surrounded by a bunch of routy dirty old men drunk on beer and whiskey hollering fight songs. From beginning to end, the album has several references to heartbreak, sobriety, and alcoholism which are all belted out by Suomi and his backing band. Suomi’s vocals simultaneously channel the like’s of R.E.M. and the shaky stylings of later Bright Eyes records. Right now, the album is not availabe on physical release, but is still available for download. Check out one of my favorites off the disc below
