In a summer that’s been full of sub-par albums with great tracks that are few and far between, Land Of Talk’s new album Cloak and Cipher is a refreshing mix of original female fronted indie-rock. As I mentioned in an introductory post last November, Pianos Become The Teeth have always impressed me with their ability to fuse grass roots screamo with infusions of post-rock tendencies, much similar to another one of my favorite bands, Moving Mountains. This morning, I stumbled on this re-recorded version of an old song entitled “Houses We Die In” and also found this music video for said track. Check em out.

Underoath Announce Name and Release Date For New Album

I don’t normally like posting new album announcements without some kind of album art/song preview, but as a long time avid follower of Underoath, I couldn’t resist. The band will be releasing their 7th studio full-length entitled Disambiguation on November 9 via Tooth & Nail. This release will mark the band’s first album without one of the original founding members and former drummer, Aaron Gillespie.

fun. is currently set to release a deluxe edition of their fantastic 2009 debut Aim & Ignite. The deluxe edition will feature new song “Stitch Me Up” as well as two unreleased remixes of “Walking The Dog” and “All The Pretty Girls” and music videos for both aforementioned tracks.

Above is a video, taken by my good friend Ed of the new track “Stitch me up” being performed live when we caught them on their tour last September. Check it out.

It starts off with random footage of what looks to be a retirement home, features the full band (and choir) doing a live rendition of the song, and ends in a full on dance party. Watching this clip of Candy Claws perform “Warm Forest Floor” from their latest album has made me realize I haven’t posted anything about the said album yet. Hidden Lands is a much more subdued effort than their classic debut which made me fall in love with them. It’s hard to think of a band out there doing things similar when you hear their tropical blend of reverbed whispers and overlaying acoustics, it almost sounds like the band is literally playing to you from under the ocean. These guys are the definition of “summer music”
