vampire weekend drop their new video for one of my favorite tracks off of contra. despite all the initial hate it’s been getting, i seem to feel a bit fonder of it in regards to it’s predecessor. follow the band through a their red headed heroine through a white-walled tennis match with some sketchy opponents including a drunken Jake Gyllenhaal.

Vampire Weekend – New Music – More Music Videos

remember when mtv used to post stuff that was…well….music related? yeah me either, but here’s a small reminder in the form of “white sky” acoustically treated.

i posted about it last week, and its still my favorite cut off of contra. i’ve probably spun it close to 15 times over the past few days. something about the chorus just sets off all the happy chemicals in my brain. i gotta say, i love how they busted out the string section for this one. does anyone else think ezra koenig looks vaguely like that one chick from the dirty projectors?

i don’t really get all the hate that vampire weekend have been getting from their sophomore release, contra. i’ve spun in a handful of times and i think it’s definitely solid front to back. the album definitely succeeds due in large to a select few of single-ready cuts, including my personal favorite, “white sky”

“white sky” couples the sunny electronic blips found throughout the majority of contra’s makeup with Ezra Koenig’s ascending sunspotted ah-ah’s and oo-oo’s that make it contra’s undeniable high-point. it’s like being showered in sunshine while i sit bundled up inside my frigid room.

contra is out this tuesday.

vampire weekend are set to kick off 2010 right. with a solid sophomore effort loaded in their guns ready to be released next tuesday and a slew of late night performances ahead, letterman is just the start… as long as people don’t get people don’t get sick of the over-saturation of press these guys get (hehe) .
