The Wonder Years just released their new video for “Local Man Ruins Everything” featuring “Hank The Pigeon” roamin aimlessly and uneventfully roaming the streets of PA amongst a slew of nods to the record’s fretful content.

I’ve got a chance to run a few listens through and it’s right on par with what I’ve come to expect from these PA natives. Fast, catchy and introspective pop-punk arriving just in time for the summer. The Wonder Years are one of my favorite bands that compromise the modern pop-punk revival that’s been taking place over the past few years. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the announcement of their followup to The Upsides and it’s finally here. Suburbia I’ve Given You All And Now I’m Nothing will be released June 14th via Hopeless Records. That’s the album art up there, and the tracklisting is below. I’ll probably be updating this post later on as the band will be premiering a new track with absolutepunk.net later this evening

While it seems like 2010 was the year of lo-fi reverbed bedroom pop, if you look beyond the surface, it was also the year of a pop-punk comeback, thanks to bands like Four Year Strong, Fireworks, Transit, and The Wonder Years. The latter, who released their new album The Upsides earlier this year, are set to re-release it via Hopeless Records, including a new song. a few months back, i got a hold of the wonder years sophomore full-length the upsides. it soon found way into itunes purgatory and it wasn’t till a few weeks back that i shuffled onto it and immediately fell in love.

though the upsides is anything but innovative or ground breaking, the philadelphia five-piece stick to what they do, and they do it very well; creating raucous, nostalgic pop punk. vocalist dan campbell brings a sunny charm, juxtaposed with a snarling bite throughout the upsides span, and the starting line comparisons are impossible to ignore, as his immediately recognizable whine sounds almost identical to TSL (and now Person L) frontman Kenny Vasoli.

When the temperature rises, and your in desperate need of something to blast from the open windows of your car, give the upsides a chance. you may be pleasantly surprised.
