Honestly, I didn’t much care for Tokyo Police Club’s 10 covers in 10 days stint when I first heard about it. I’d rather see a band put effort into new material then put out a slew of covers, but their new cover of The Strokes classic “Under Control” instantly changed my mind. The boys from TPC don’t take too much away from the original, adding just enough flair to make for a new and refreshing listen. Have a go!

The Strokes whipped out some psychedelic visuals combo’d with their killer cool to make the video for their new single “Taken For A Fool”, which also happens to be easily the best song off of Angles. They will be releasing the song’s single on July 26th which will feature the song’s live MSG version w/ Elvis Costello that can be seen below.

Watching The Strokes bring the electronica tinged “Games” to Conan made me realize that I don’t think I really like the song. Maybe I’m just grumpy from running on 3 hours of sleep today, but something about Albert jamming out on a synthesizer feels slightly anti-climatic. Regardless, it’s still a solid performance from the best rock band out there.

VIDEO // The Strokes at Madison Square Garden

Last night The Strokes played one of the most anticipated shows of the year, returning to their home and playing the biggest venue in the country, Madison Square Garden. From everything I’ve read/seen/heard it appears that it was probably the best show ever and the greatest night of the thousands of people’s lives that were lucky enough to attend.

The guys played through a 20 song set of songs from all four albums. You can view collected videos from the performance below, including the band playing “Taken For A Fool” with Elvis Costello. I highly recommend the last video for “Take It Or Leave It” which is practically the greatest show closer ever
