Long Island buzz band The Republic of Wolves recently did an acoustic performance of a new song entitled “The Attic” from their new full-length Varuna (due out November 30th). Keep your eyes out. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to do a post on new release Tuesday so here’s a special post for a special band to make up for it.

The Republic of Wolves have been no stranger to this blog since I introduced them back in August. Back then, they had a few meager demos and a rabid growing fan base, that is sure to keep growing after this; Today I’m proud to announce the band have put out their first studio release, His Old Branches.

You can cop it over at Amazon for a meager $6.93 which I have already done. Trust me, this EP is well worth your time and money. I still can’t believe a band of such little and youthful stature has come out of nowhere to put out such a high quality release.

The Republic of Wolves Announce New Release + New Songs

The Republic of Wolves recently announced their first proper release, an EP entitled His Old Branches. The band’s myspace has been remodeled with an image stating that the release is “coming soon” but the band has stated that it will be out within the first half of December.

Head over to their myspace to preview two new songs, which are actually studio recordings of some of their demo’s I raved and ranted about earlier this year.

Summer is officially gone. With the introduction to dreary, cloud heavy weather, it’s definitely hoodie season where I reside.

While many will be mourning the death of summer, I for one am ecstatic for the change. Fall is without a doubt my favorite time of the year. October means a few good things in particular
-The upcoming line-up of all the good holidays is drawing near.
-The start of the NBA season is right around the corner.
-I don’t need an excuse to stay inside, eat and be lazy.

In addition to all these great things, my musical preferences always seem to change during this time. Cutting back on the poppier and heavier sides of the musical spectrum, I always seem to dive headfirst into a pool of stark acoustics, greyish ambients and, lazy pop. Hopefully this mix reflects that, and will accompany you through the best time of the year.

New Republic of Wolves – A Weather Vane

The Republic of Wolves recently hit the studio to record their much anticipated (and hyped) debut. While Brand New’s faithful around the world wait in anticipation for the second coming of Jesse Lacey, the band have posted a studio recorded new song (albeit acoustic) entitled A Weather Vain, and honestly it’s not too bad. This band really has potential to make a splash.

it’s been a slow past few days, so i’m takin this chance to point you in the direction of some stuff i’ve posted recently that is in direct need of your attention

candy claws drew me into a fuzzed out summer stupor with their addictingly magnificent song “catomaran” much appropriate for this time of the year [link]

the republic of wolves are turning heads and catchin ears round the net with three demos they unleashed which were mistaken for leaked songs off of brand new’s daisy. it’s true, the dude sounds just like jesse lacey [link]

introducing: the republic of wolves

so the story goes like this. a “friend” of the newly upstarts the republic of wolves leaks snippets of the bands demo’s on youtube claiming that they are new songs from brand new new album daisy. someone should give that friend a pat on the back for the genius (albeit dickish) move on the part of the republic of wolves. with the release, the band now have the attention of quite a few brand new followers (myself included).

why? it’s simple. TROW’s vocalist sounds almost like an exact replica of Jesse Lacey. the similarities between wolves stylings and brand new’s untouchable sound is undeniable. the band have made the previously mentioned three demos available in their highest quality. check em out (the degausser-esque “spill” comes highly recommended”)

be sure to keep your eyes out for an ep/full length from these guys in the future. in the meantime, download away
