I’d recommend finding a stream of this before deciding on whether to cop the money on it. Personally, I’m not a huge fan. There’s some great tracks, but it just doesn’t do justice to their amazing self-titled debut. Hit up some of the tracks at the band’s myspace

modest mouse – no one’s first and you’re next
wtf is modest mouse doing? in recent months, they put out three different singles, then rereleased them along with their b-sides on a B-sides EP…Somebody needed some money I guess, only pick this one up if your a modest mouse discography completist.

memphis may fire: sleepwalking – can’t make up my mind yet on what i think of memphis may fire’s full-length debut. their EP was full of potential, but with the departure of their former vocalist, the band seems to have lost something. the instrumentation is still as hard hitting (albeit generic) but the lyricism is god awful. you might wanna stream some songs before you pick it up.

modest mouse: perpetual motion machine 7″ – modest mouses last single before the release of b-sides EP No One’s First and You’re Next. hit it up exclusively on vinyl.

theres only one album out today that i really care about, and that is august burns red’s third full length, constellations. if you recall, i posted a while ago when i first discovered august burns red with their last effort messengers.

constellations is a piece of work very similar to messengers, and much like it’s predecessor, constellations will fail to turn heads or blow minds with it’s unique-ness. instead, constellations is content with pummeling and trashing through 12 songs of utter chaos. you can stream the whole record (both “white washed” and “indonesia” come highly recommended”) here or purchase it here

poison the well – the tropic rot
for fans that liked the new direction taken by versions, but still love the bands original material, the tropic rot will satisfy. stream the whole album at the bands myspace, but make sure to check out “makeshift clay you” first.

kiss kiss – the meek shall inherit whats left
i never was able to get into kiss kiss’s debut, but the meek shall inherit whats left is sure to be one of the cult classic releases of 2009. if you like the mars volta’s spazzed out blend of prog-rock and high pitched vocals, kiss kiss is the band for you. i dare you to listen to “plague #11″ and not let your jaw drop.

This is the first full-length I’ve listened to by these guys. From what I’ve heard it’s a lot more straightforward than their previous quirky freak-folk leanings. “River” is one of the best songs I’ve heard this year, but don’t take my word for it

Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band – Outer South
Can’t really say much more about this album that I haven’t already. Another solid release by one of my favorite songwriters of all time. If you haven’t read my review, check it out here. oh yeah, how did this not make South’s final cut?

The Chariot – Wars and Rumors of Wars
I don’t know if they’ll ever be able to recreate the chaotic mess from the “Everything is Alive…” EP, but this one still has it’s moments. Scogin deserves props for keeping things together through so many member changes.
