It’s that time of the year. Although I’ve yet to complete (or honestly even start) my album of the year list, I thought I’d throw together somethin special before I take off to Vegas for the weekend. There’s been a lot of great music this year, and these songs just skim the top of what has turned into a very good year for music. If you like what you hear, make sure you pick up the record. In a summer that’s been full of sub-par albums with great tracks that are few and far between, Land Of Talk’s new album Cloak and Cipher is a refreshing mix of original female fronted indie-rock. Land of Talk are set to release their second album Cloak and Cipher this Tuesday, August 24th. In celebration, go ahead and preview “Quarry Hymns”, a slow-burning track that does well displaying the growth this band has experienced between this and their last full-length. memories from last years twilight summer series festival in salt lake city are all flooding back to me. out of all the bands i witnessed last year, land of talk definitely had the longest lasting impression on me. here’s a new cut from their upcoming full-length cloak and cipher which is due out august 24th. enjoy!

I let on my fondness of Land of Talk a while back. Since then, they’ve put out a new EP via Saddle-Creek and this video for “It’s Okay” off of they’re full-length Some Are Lakes. Make sure you give them a listen if you haven’t already, or just be completely absolved in this lush video.

This mix is made for my good friend Ben, who just returned from a 2 year religious sabbatical in Argentina. I promised him I would put together a mix of all the great music he missed out on.
