here’s one of the three b-sides from julian’s solo debut. “30 minute boyfriend” follows the attention deficit disordered electronic formula that composed phrazes for the young‘s makeup.

still unsure on how i feel about phrazes for the young. i’m not sold, i don’t think i’ve listened to it more than a handful of times. here’s to hoping we get a fantasmic strokes LP4 to makeup for it.

julian definitely brought his game to this performance, in spite of his dismal late night tv debut. I definitely think “out of the blue” makes the transition to a live tv broadcast much better than “11th dimension”

Strokes frontman takes the high-road in his solo music video debut. Casablancas is faced with a series of scenarios that test his will and strength in his pacifist ways. I actually liked it a lot which is something I can’t really say for this song. Definitely one of my least favorites off of Phrazes For The Young.

For the many unfortunate people like myself who do not reside anywhere near Los Angeles, Julian’s appearances this month in LA are somewhat of a low-blow to the rabid fan base wanting to catch the new tracks live. Julian Casablancas is playing every Friday in LA over the next month. If you’re anywhere near LA, I’d definitely recommend getting down there to check him out. Last night at The Palace, Julian kicked off the string of shows. Although very little footage has surfaced of the event, heres a solid video of Julian doing The Strokes b-side I’ll Try Anything Once which is actually a demo of First Impressions… kick off track You Only Live Once, enjoy.

In anticipation to Julian Casablancas new album Phrazes For The Young here’s a collab he did with Santogold and N.E.R.D. Apparently they even made a music video! The booming single is led by a repetitive distorted riff while the group take turns on vocal duties, each adding their own distinct flavor to the track (Julian shines the brightest, of course). Julian Casablancas Releases ‘Phrazes For The Young’ Deluxe Edition

It’s no secret that Julian Casablancas debut solo album is probably the most anticipated record for the rest of the year here at the cosmonaut. While the album isn’t set to hit stores till November 2nd, Julian has released details on the Deluxe edition, so big they had to call it the Luxury Edition.

For a meager $89.95 (+S&H) you can get the following:
• A 48-page classically bound storybook containing original and exclusive artwork, full album lyrics, B-Side lyrics, “phrazes” and photographs – each book will be personally signed by Julian Casablancas.
• A DVD containing filmed solo acoustic performances by Julian, an interview, the album trailer and the “11th Dimension” music video.

Finally, we get our first listen at Julian Casablancas debut solo. “11th Dimension” is immediately brilliant just as I thought it would be. Since The Strokes 2006 release of First Impressions of Earth” it seems that I’ve grown accustomed to hearing Julian’s voice layered with a stream of synth heavy electronics. (See: BOOMBOX). If 11th Dimension is any indication, it’s likely that the trend will continue.

We’ve seen the teasing trailer, heard shit recordings of a live performance, but now we got some concrete information, and some tantalizing artwork. Julian apparently loves all things retrofied (and dogs). PHRAZES FOR THE YOUNG is due out 10/20 via Cult/RCA Records.

As promised, Julian Casablancas debuted his solo album at his first live show yesterday in Tokyo. Some video clips have been surfacing from the performance. Although they’re not the best quality, I’m just stoked to get any listen on new material from the God of Rock.

Although a confirmed release date is yet to be announced, PHRAZES FOR THE YOUNG is expected this fall.
