devendra banhart’s what will we be has been out for a while now. today banhart dropped his first video from the said disc for the albums lead single “baby”.

the single’s relaxed and breezy attitude give proper treatment to the sunny sidewalks banhart and friends (including half of little joy and mgmt stroll down before the album takes a psychedelic twist and meet up with wu-tang clan’s gza.

don’t know what else to say, be forewarned, the WTF factor is pretty high on this one.

Summer is officially gone. With the introduction to dreary, cloud heavy weather, it’s definitely hoodie season where I reside.

While many will be mourning the death of summer, I for one am ecstatic for the change. Fall is without a doubt my favorite time of the year. October means a few good things in particular
-The upcoming line-up of all the good holidays is drawing near.
-The start of the NBA season is right around the corner.
-I don’t need an excuse to stay inside, eat and be lazy.

In addition to all these great things, my musical preferences always seem to change during this time. Cutting back on the poppier and heavier sides of the musical spectrum, I always seem to dive headfirst into a pool of stark acoustics, greyish ambients and, lazy pop. Hopefully this mix reflects that, and will accompany you through the best time of the year.

Looking Back: Little Joy

THEE greatest rock n roll band of all-time, The Strokes released their last album over 3 years ago. In that span of time, I’ve been tirelessly tearing through their discography in desperate need of new material.

Thank god for Little Joy.

For those unfamiliar, Little Joy is the brainchild of Strokes’ Drummer Fabrizio Moretti and Los Hermanos singer/guitarist Rodrigo Amarante. The two met at a festival in Lisbon and later reunited in Los Angeles with Binki Shaprio to create their self-titled debut.

Though Little Joy was released in November of last year, it’s already become a timeless classic in my eyes. While I’m unfamiliar with Amarante’s previous material, Moretti and The Strokes are best known for their simplistic genius which is just as apparent on Little Joy. Chock full of laid-back rockers (Brand New Start, No One’s Better Sake) and the sun-tinged balladry of Binki Shapiro (Unattainable), Little Joy will do more than just suffice until I get some new Strokes material.
