According to a recent interview with BBC, Matt Tong, the drummer of Bloc Party seems to be insinuating that he is going to be leaving the band, and that Bloc Party could at least be taking a hiatus.

From the interview:
“Unfortunately that is going to be it for the time being,”

If you read the article, I think it’s most likely, they’ll replace the drummer and probably just go on a short hiatus

I would rather have them go on hiatus than try to replace on of their members or have someone go solo. If they want to branch out and try other things, it’s cool. Just not at the expense of Bloc Party.

I think it’d be interesting to hear a Bloc Party release without Tong. The dude is obviously the centerpiece to alot of BP’s songs, it’d be oddly intriguing to see how they compensate for his absence if he left.

They would nerver replace the drummer! he’s what makes their sound unique, be a sad they when they pack it in, very big shame indeed
